About Jeanifer Decena

I am a Filipino- Canadian immigrant who has lived in Vancouver for a decade. Over the years, I have seen every corner of our city and understand how people thrive, struggle and sometimes fall through the cracks.

During my first year in Vancouver, I faced unemployment and homelessness for two weeks, finding shelter in St Patrick Church Adoration Chapel because I had nowhere else to go. It was the lowest point of my life, but it also gave me an unshakable understanding of the realities that many of our city face, those how struggle with housing, financial instability, and limited access to opportunities. That experienced shape my commitment to public service and my unwavering belief that no one should be left behind.

Since then, I have dedicated myself to helping other and serving our community. I have studied, work with people, submitted advocacy letters and papers to the government both provincial and federal about Mental Health, Housing and Immigration. I have created training programs to foster cultural safety and understanding, and I have been a vocal advocate for ending homelessness and positive mental health.
I believe leadership starts with listening. When City Hall truly listens,, acts and delivers on the needs of people, we can make real progress. As your City Councillor, I will always listen to your concerns and work tirelessly to turn those concerns to tangible actions.

This campaign is not just about me, - its about US. We are a Team in creating a livable, thriving and safe Vancouver for All.

I am ready to bring my lived experience, academic and work experience to CITY Hall. I am with you all the way. I missed the Christmas / Holiday Parade here in Vancouver and I will bring it back for everyone to be happy! Vote for ME #DecenaJeanifer
